I did it!\u00a0 I sat down with coffee in hand. I sat and planned my school for weeks!\u00a0 I had it written down.\u00a0 I had it perfected.\u00a0 I was proud and nothing could rock my homeschool.\u00a0 I was on top of the world\u2026.until\u2026<\/p>\n

School started.\u00a0 Day 1\u2026.great\u2026day 2\u2026\u2026well life happened.\u00a0 The phone rang (and I don\u2019t normally answer this during school time), the UPS man showed up, dinner blew up\u2026..life happened.\u00a0 Then the next day we had a dentist appointment, which I had actually planned for, however due to the happening of Day 2, we were already behind.\u00a0 Then the guilt and doubt sets in.<\/p>\n

This is when I learned Routine vs Schedule!\u00a0 Lifesaver\u2026game changer!\u00a0 What is the difference you ask?\u00a0 A routine is a list of things we do in an order, whereas, a schedule is a list of things we do on a timeline.\u00a0 Since time was our issue, we eliminated it!\u00a0 We sat down and created a routine and we named it Our Loop!\u00a0 So we weren\u2019t tied down to a timeline.\u00a0 I am also a firm believer in mastery vs box checking.\u00a0 I would rather stay on one topic until my children have mastered it vs just getting a list of things done that will soon be forgotten next week.\u00a0 Our days look a lot different and happier!\u00a0 Now we still have our days where everything blows up and I question everything but now I don\u2019t worry about getting behind.<\/p>\n

We have found a routine that works for us but it took some time!\u00a0 We flopped a few times before we settled in.\u00a0 This is what our day look like:<\/p>\n

Morning Basket\u2026. We start our day with a morning basket that contains our Bible, Current Events and Read Aloud or language lesson.\u00a0 Because my kids could listen to me read all day long and not ever use a pencil, I have chosen to read novels for our bible time.\u00a0 (Check our current loves to see what we are using for our curriculum.)\u00a0 Our current events usually consist of websites.\u00a0 Read Alouds are what ever I am feeling we need to read.\u00a0 Our language lesson is where I fail\u2026.I try, I do!\u00a0 But we can\u2019t seem to get far in anything but Sign Language.\u00a0 This is where I am trying to improve.<\/p>\n

Next, I work with Jeremiah.\u00a0 He is the youngest and needs a lot of one on one.\u00a0 The two older ones start their \u201cLoops\u201d which includes Math, English Language Lessons, Writing, and then one of their electives.\u00a0 Electives include typing, civics or science.\u00a0 Josh does his own science lessons\u2026he is just that too much too old to do with the little do, so he does his as an elective.\u00a0 The littles do their science in the Afternoon Tea Basket time.<\/p>\n

We finish our day with an Afternoon Tea Basket!\u00a0 We fix ourselves a cup of tea and \"\"<\/a>end our day with our final Loop.\u00a0 We fill this time with Science, History, Art, Music, and what ever we feel like doing!\u00a0 Sometimes it is just going outside, sometimes it is helping papa on the tractor, what ever!<\/p>\n
